Inside Ann's Studio.
February 08, 2005
Hi again - Ann here.
As some of you know I’ve been away having a baby and am just starting my work within the artist’s response residency.
This experience has been overwhelming and quite inseparable from the process of thinking and making work as an artist. Some of the ideas can be easily identified as directly connected with the Linen project and others less obviously so.
All the work within this residency however, will revolve around the concept of
“The Altered Landscape” - an idea I just couldn’t leave behind after working in response to a striking black and white photograph, “The Bleaching Green”, where the dark of the landscape is totally transformed by the lengths of white linen laid out upon it.
In focusing upon this central idea, “The Altered Landscape”, I will begin to explore the following:
1) “The Bleaching Green” imagery
2) “The Body as Landscape” – of course my own and its recent transformations
3) “ Land Marking”, an exploration of marks we, as humans, make within the landscape around us
4) “The Changing Landscape”
The image shown is from “The Body as Landscape” series, about myself and my son, Pablo, titled “Triptych”.
Ballydown Kids – I’m sure you can work out how I actually drew this if you think back to making our “linen bodies”.
